We have finished developing our new strategy for 25/26 and are looking for final input from members!
The strategy has been informed by what we have learned from members over the past year and their thoughts on how we should move forwards in the year ahead.
Connecting Midlothian’s Habitats: Our First Wildlife Corridors Gathering

This week, we held our first gathering focused on improving wildlife corridors in Midlothian! It was fantastic to bring together groups and individuals passionate about protecting and restoring biodiversity and discuss how we can better connect natural spaces, support existing biodiversity efforts, and create a network of thriving habitats across the region.

Last Saturday, we had the privilege of attending Dalkeith Arts’ Changing Weather: Climate Stories as Art exhibition. The exhibition brought local stories of climate change and weather shifts to life through incredible artistic interpretations by the very talented members of Dalkeith Arts.

Creative Writing Competition

Calling all writers and poets across Midlothian! Join us for MCAN’s very first Creative Writing Competition!
We are looking for stories that explore you thoughts, feelings and experiences around the climate crisis. They can be based on your own lived experience of weather changes or other effects of climate change, or on your concerns and hopes for the future.
Reflecting on a Year of Growth and Action

As 2024 draws to a close, we look back at an incredible first year and reflect on how much the Hub has grown and accomplished. The Hub began the year with a clear mission: to create a thriving network of community groups and organisations collaborating to tackle the climate and nature crises in Midlothian. From outreach events and climate conversations, to coming together as network to build a shared vision, this year has been about laying strong foundations to achieve this vision.
