Last week, we submitted our response to the consultation on the draft Midlothian Local Development Plan 2 (MLDP2), which will guide how Midlothian grows and develops between 2027 and 2036.
Overall, we welcomed the Plan’s recognition of the need to respond to climate change and the nature crises, as well as a number of strong environmental provisions throughout the document. With our 28 pages long response, we hope to strengthen this provisions and ensure the Plan offers appropriate safeguards that fully consider climate change, biodiversity and sustainable development in Midlothian over the next decade.
Alongside our full response, we shared a Community Statement and asked YOU, the Midlothian residents and workers, community groups and organisations, to add your voices to ours, asking for stronger protections for nature, communities and climate resilience.

At time of delivery to Midlothian Council, our Community Statement was supported by 213 residents and people working in Midlothian, with 22 organisations and community represented.
