Following our very successful writing competition last year, this year we are broadening the scope for all you artists out there! We are looking for arts, crafts, poetry or other types of creations based on the prompt:
Re-imagining our towns: What could a greener future for your town look like?
The theme is up to your own interpretation, so long as it explores ways in which our towns could be greener, more sustainable and resilient.
How do we grow our food? how do we heat and power our homes? What is our relationship with the land? You can explore any of these or any other issue close to your heart.
The creation itself can be anything the theme inspires you to make! Painting, drawing, sewing, writing, pottery, weaving, crafting, whatever is your preferred medium of expression.
We just ask it follows some basic guidelines:
The inspiration for the creation must be a real location within Midlothian
You must live, have lived, and/or work/study in Midlothian
The piece must be easily movable
Any writing piece should be under 200 words and fit into one page
You should be able to capture the piece in a photo that you can share with us
You need to be the author of your submission
Submissions created with Generative AI will not be accepted
All of the creations will then be displayed at our Big Blether on the 24th of April! At the Big Blether, the members of our network will vote on their favourite creations to choose the winners. We would love if you could join us for the Big Blether, though it is not required and it won’t affect your chances of winning!
