Over the past month we’ve been hosting pop-ups to hear your stories and lived experience on how the climate and weather has changed in Midlothian, and talk about what ways you’d like to see Midlothian adapt and become more resilient.
These stories will be invaluable for the Climate Ready South East project, bringing in a local perspective on how local people are already experiencing changes to their communities and gather your views on the ways you think adaptation could best benefit you and your community.
So far we’ve been at the Pavilion in Mayfield, Newtongrange Community Garden for their Apple Harvest day, and took part in Challenge Poverty Week by joining the Midlothian Sure Start’s Our Stories:Voices of Midlothian Families event and the Food, Facts, Friends’ Cost of Living event.
We’ve had many insightful conversations, grounded in local experience and knowledge and hope to keep these going.
Over the coming months we will continue to host pop-ups across different areas of Midlothian,as well as hosting workshop where we will go deeper into what adaptation can look like wen taking local reality in consideration.
Our next session will be in be next week on Wednesday, 23rd of October in Loanhead. If you’d like to join us, sign up through this link.
If you’d like us to come to your community, either by doing a pop-up or a workshop on adaptation, please get in touch!
Is Midlothian Ready for Climate Change?
How can Midlothian adapt to the worse effects of a changing climate?
We are already seeing changes in weather and climate impacts across Midlothian, from changes to wildlife and pollinators, to unseasonal weather and destructive floodings.
We want to collect your stories on what changes you have experienced and, perhaps more importantly, in which ways do you think Midlothian should adapt to become more resilient to the impacts of climate change and ensure that all our communities and places can prosper and flourish.
Click the button below and tell us your story!
We are also reaching out to groups and holding pop-ups to collect these stories or workshops where, together, we can explore what adaptation could look like in your local area. If you’d like to support us reach your community, please email bruno.santos@midlothianclimateaction.org.uk
