We have a few exciting events lined up over the coming weeks!
8th August: Climate Conversations in Loanhead
Our third Climate Conversation session will take place at The Link, in Loanhead. If you’d like to attend or read more on the structure of the session, you can do it through our eventbrite page.
Would you like to host a Climate Conversation in you community? The Hub wants to keep having these conversations across Midlothian, to bring groups together, to learn and to inspire each other. Our staff will come to your community and facilitate a session to help you engage other community groups in your area so you can take action together.
14th August: Reuse, Repair, Recycle – creating a circular economy
Our first themed event will focus on how we can build a circular economy through reuse, repair and recycle practices. It will be taking place at One Dalkeith on the 14th of August. We will be sharing more information on this event soon, so make sure to keep an eye on our website and social media channels.
End of August: All-members Gathering
We are delighted to invite all our members to our first MCAN all-members gathering!
This is a really exciting opportunity for all members to come together in-person for the first time. It will be an inspiring event with showcases of brilliant projects to inspire us and set the tone for the day, followed by discussions around critical issues and how we can collaborate to improve the sustainability and wellbeing of our communities. There will also be space to discuss the direction of the Hub and help shape the future of the network.
We will share an exact date and venue soon. This is a members-only event, however joining the network is extremely easy, just follow this link! If you know a group or organisation that you think should be a part of MCAN make sure to send them the link above or contact hub@midlothianclimateaction.org.uk.
3rd September: Online event on Funding
Following the feedback from our survey earlier in the year, we will be hosting an online event focused on access to funding, in partnership with Midlothian Voluntary Action. Provisionally, the event will be taking place online on the evening of the 3rd of September, but we will fully confirm details over the coming weeks.
13th -15th of September: Vogrie Pogrie
Would you like to join us at Vogrie Pogrie with an activity or showcase of your group? MCAN will have a space at the festival on one of the days and would like to invite our members to come along and demonstrate some of the work you do.
This could be anything from seed bomb making, practical workshops on what your organisations does, tree and invertebrate identification, or anything else you’d like to bring to the festival. There is the potential to run discussion groups/education workshops, such as on taking direct community action for climate, or about reaching out to young people in our communities. We would love to hear any ideas you might have! Get in touch at hub@midlothianclimateaction.org.uk
If you are aware of any organisations or groups who might be interested, feel free to share their details with us (even if they are not a member).
